Five-Day Bible Reading Plan and Devotional
Sermon Audio
Jesus Knocks | Windows that Witness Week 5
Day 1: Opening the Door to Christ's Presence
Reading: Revelation 3:14-22
Devotional: The church in Laodicea had become lukewarm, comfortable in their wealth and self-sufficiency. Similarly, we can become spiritually complacent, thinking we have everything we need. But Jesus calls us to recognize our true spiritual poverty and open the door to Him. Reflect on areas of your life where you may have become lukewarm or indifferent. What would it look like to "open the door" to Jesus in those areas today? Ask God to renew your passion for Him and to help you cultivate a spirit of expectation rather than resignation.
Day 2: From Indifference to Expectation
Reading: Isaiah 43:18-19, 2 Corinthians 5:17
Devotional: God is always doing something new in our lives, even when we can't see it. The Laodicean church had fallen into a pattern of "it is what it is" thinking, but God challenges this mindset. He is the God of new beginnings and fresh starts. Today's passages reminds us that God is constantly working to renew and transform us. Where in your life have you settled for "it is what it is"? How might God be inviting you to expect and participate in His transformative work? Ask the Holy Spirit to give you eyes to see the new things God is doing and the courage to step into them.
Day 3: The Power of God's Word
Reading: Hebrews 4:12-13, 2 Timothy 3:16-17
Devotional: Scripture is God's inspired word, and that's powerful and important. It's not just a book, but a "library" that tells one unified story leading to Jesus. Today's readings highlight how God's word is living and active, able to penetrate our hearts and transform our lives. It equips us for every good work God has prepared for us. How has God's word impacted your life recently? Are there areas where you need to allow it to penetrate more deeply? Spend time meditating on a verse that speaks to you, asking God to use His word to shape your heart and mind.
Day 4: Embracing Divine Discipline
Reading: Hebrews 12:5-11, Proverbs 3:11-12
Devotional: In Revelation 3:19, Jesus says, "I correct and discipline everyone I love." Today's passages expand on this theme, reminding us that God's discipline is an expression of His love and care for us. Like a loving parent, He guides and corrects us to help us grow in holiness and maturity. Reflect on times when you've experienced God's loving discipline. How did it shape your character or draw you closer to Him? Are there areas in your life now where you sense God's corrective hand? Ask for the grace to embrace His discipline, trusting in His love and wisdom.
Day 5: Living with Spiritual Expectancy
Reading: Ephesians 3:14-21, Romans 15:13
Devotional: It's time to move from a spirit of resignation to one of expectation. Today's passages paint a picture of the immeasurable power and love of God at work in us. Paul prays for the Ephesians to grasp the vastness of Christ's love and to be filled with the fullness of God. He reminds the Romans that God is a God of hope, able to fill us with joy and peace as we trust in Him. How might your life look different if you truly believed in God's power to do "immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine"? What specific situation can you bring to God today with renewed hope and expectation? Pray for God to increase your faith and fill you with His Spirit, enabling you to live with joyful anticipation of His work in and through you.
