Five-Day Bible Reading Plan and Devotional
Sermon Audio
"He's Got His Eye On You"
Day 1: God's Watchful Eye
Reading: Psalm 33:13-22
Devotional: Just as Jesus kept watch over his disciples during the storm, God's eyes are always on us. In times of turmoil and distress, it's easy to feel alone or forgotten. But today's passage reminds us that the Lord sees us from heaven, observing all we do. This isn't a distant, detached observation, but one filled with love and care. Reflect on a recent "storm" in your life. How might knowing God was watching over you change your perspective? Today, practice awareness of God's presence, reminding yourself that His loving gaze is upon you in every moment.
Day 2: Walking on Water - Stepping Out in Faith
Reading: Matthew 14:22-33
Devotional: The image of Jesus walking on water is a powerful reminder of His divinity and control over creation. But it's also an invitation to step out in faith, just as Peter did. In our lives, we often face situations that seem impossible - like walking on water. What "impossible" situation are you facing right now? Jesus calls us to keep our eyes fixed on Him, not on the waves around us. Today, identify one small step of faith you can take in that situation, trusting that Jesus is right there with you, ready to catch you if you falter.
Day 3: The God Who Passes By
Reading: Exodus 12:12-13
Devotional: The sermon mentioned Jesus "passing by" the disciples as a callback to God passing by the Hebrews in Egypt. This concept of God "passing by" is rich with meaning - it's a moment of divine protection and mercy. In your own life, how attentive are you to God's presence "passing by"? He may not appear in dramatic ways, but in quiet moments, unexpected kindnesses, or even in challenges that stretch our faith. Today, be especially alert to God's presence. At the end of the day, journal about where you sensed God "passing by" in your life.
Day 4: Overcoming Division with Love
Reading: 1 Corinthians 13:1-13
Devotional: The sermon touched on the deep divisions in our world and relationships. Paul's famous passage on love provides a powerful antidote to this division. Love, as described here, is patient, kind, and keeps no record of wrongs. It's a high standard, but one we're called to embody. Think of a relationship in your life marked by division or tension. How might applying one aspect of love from this passage change that relationship? Challenge yourself to act with intentional love towards that person today, regardless of how it's received.
Day 5: Battling Distractions, Focusing on Christ
Reading: Hebrews 12:1-3
Devotional: Our world is full of distractions that can pull our focus away from Christ. The author of Hebrews encourages us to "fix our eyes on Jesus." This requires intentionality and discipline. What are the primary distractions in your life that hinder your relationship with God? It might be technology, busy-ness, or even good things that have taken an outsized place in your life. Today, choose one distraction to "lay aside" for a set period. Use that time to focus on Jesus through prayer, Scripture reading, or simply being still in His presence. Reflect on how this shift in focus impacts your day and your sense of God's presence.
