Day 1: Encountering Jesus

Reading: John 15:1-11

Devotional: Jesus calls Himself the true vine and us the branches. This powerful metaphor reminds us that our spiritual life depends entirely on our connection to Him. Today, reflect on what it means to truly encounter Jesus. How have you experienced His presence in your life? Remember, encountering Jesus is always the first step in our spiritual journey, but it's not the last. Pray for a fresh encounter with Christ today, asking Him to reveal Himself to you in new and profound ways.

Day 2: Abiding in Christ

Reading: John 15:4-8

Devotional: To "abide" or "remain" in Christ is a central theme in this passage. It's not just about meeting Jesus once, but continually dwelling in His presence and allowing His words to dwell in us. Today, consider what practices help you abide in Christ. Is it regular prayer, Bible study, or fellowship with other believers? Remember Jesus' words: "apart from me you can do nothing." Embrace the humility of dependence on Christ, finding strength not in yourself, but in Him.

Day 3: Bearing Fruit

Reading: Galatians 5:22-23

Devotional: Jesus promises that those who abide in Him will bear much fruit. Paul elaborates on this fruit in Galatians, describing love, joy, peace, and more. Reflect on your life – what fruit do you see growing? Where do you still need growth? Remember, fruit-bearing is not about striving in your own power, but allowing the Holy Spirit to work through you as you remain connected to the vine. Ask God to cultivate His fruit in your life today.

Day 4: Overflowing Joy

Reading: John 15:11, Philippians 4:4-7

Devotional: Jesus desires that His joy would be in us and that our joy would be complete. This isn't mere happiness, but a deep-seated contentment and peace that comes from knowing and trusting God. Paul echoes this in Philippians, encouraging us to rejoice always and experience God's peace. Where in your life do you need more of Christ's joy? Pray for that overflowing joy today, especially in areas where you feel discouraged or anxious.

Day 5: Love in Action

Reading: John 15:12-17, 1 John 4:7-21

Devotional: Jesus commands us to love one another as He has loved us – sacrificially and unconditionally. John later emphasizes that this love comes from God and drives out fear. Today, consider how you can put love into action. Is there someone you need to forgive? A relationship that needs mending? A stranger who needs kindness? Remember, we love because God first loved us. Ask God to fill you with His love and show you specific ways to demonstrate it to others today.
