Go Towards Jesus
Day 1: Going Towards Jesus
Reading: Matthew 5:1-2
Devotional: As we begin this journey, let's focus on the simple yet profound act of going towards Jesus. Just as the disciples approached Jesus on the mountainside, we too are called to draw near to Him in every aspect of our lives. Today, reflect on areas where you might be moving away from Jesus. Are there habits, thoughts, or relationships pulling you in another direction? Remember, if you're not going towards Jesus, where are you going? Pray for the Holy Spirit to reorient your heart and mind towards Christ, making Him the central reference point for all you do.
Day 2: God With Us
Reading: Matthew 1:18-23
Devotional: The name Emmanuel means "God with us." This incredible truth is at the heart of the Gospel – God came to earth in the person of Jesus Christ. As you face challenges or uncertainties today, remember that you're not alone. God is with you in every moment, every struggle, and every joy. How might your perspective change if you truly lived with the constant awareness of God's presence? Take time to acknowledge His presence in the ordinary moments of your day, inviting Him into every situation you face.
Day 3: The Power of Christ's Teaching
Reading: Luke 6:47-49
Devotional: When the disciples came to Jesus, "He began to teach them." Christ's teachings are the foundation upon which we build our lives. Consider the areas in your life where you need wisdom or guidance. Are you building on the solid rock of Christ's teachings or on shifting sands? Today, commit to not just hearing Jesus' words but putting them into practice. Choose one teaching of Jesus that challenges you and find a practical way to apply it in your life.
Day 4: Childlike Faith
Reading: Matthew 18:2-4
Devotional: Jesus calls us to have faith like a child – simple, trusting, and pure. In a world that often values complexity and self-reliance, this can be challenging. Reflect on what childlike faith means to you. How can you cultivate a more trusting relationship with God? Consider areas where you might be overcomplicating your faith or relying too much on your own understanding. Ask God to help you approach Him with the openness and trust of a child.
Day 5: The Great Commission
Reading: Matthew 28:18-20
Devotional: As we conclude this week's devotional, we focus on Jesus' final command to His disciples – to go and make disciples of all nations. This mission is for every believer. How are you participating in this great commission? It doesn't necessarily mean traveling to far-off lands; it can start right where you are. Pray for opportunities to share Christ's love with others today. Remember, as you go towards Jesus, He promises to be with you always, empowering you for the work He's called you to do.
